Basic Strategies for War of Emperium

Contribution needed

This page is focussed on pre-trans WoE, but Arcadia does have trans WoE. Thus it's in need of contributions as many of the items are outdated, while the strategies may still be used though.

Introduction

This is a general guide outlines basic War of Emperium (WoE) tactics. It will go over the basic gears you will need, explain the roles of each class, and detail some of the reliable strategies of offense and defense. The offensive guild’s ultimate plan is to pierce through the defenders of a castle and break their Emperium undetected or forcefully. The defending guild’s must protect their Emperium and kill any enemies who dare enter your castle. The guild with the best coordination and communication will always triumph in WoE.

Gears

You will need to get some basic gears. What is considered standard is at least Marc, Thara Frog, and Poo Poo Hat. But here, I will detail some of the higher items you should get to give your guild the advantage:

Top Gear

If you manage to get a +7 Drooping Cat, then it will be superior and much more helpful than a Poo Poo Hat. The only use for Poo Poo Hat is trying to survive Asura (since it bypasses defense). If you have anything below 10k HP, you won't have a chance to survive it unless you have Ghostring or Deviling card.

For those who prefer more defense than magical defense can choose this instead of +7 Drooping Cat. Still, both are very hard to obtain.

  • Slotted Headgears

In special cases, you can use headgear cards such as Stalactic Golem Card to accommodate certain builds.

Only for Monks who are about to Asura. When you finish casting, switch to reduction to survive better until you need to cast again.

Mid Gear

Low Gear

  • 2266.png Iron Cain if you are a Swordsman class.
  • 2265.png Gangster Mask if you are using AWE/EWE.
  • Use a 2 DEF Mid-Lower gears if you do not fit the above criteria.

Armor

Consider MDEF Armors such as Saint's Robe, Silk Robe, or Glittering Jacket.

If you character is not STR-based, consider Formal Suit (30 weight) for carrying more potions.

  • Get some elemental armors such as Swordfish to tank Storm Gust if needed.

Shield

Footgear

Monks are allowed to switch to Sohee only to maximize Asura’s damage.

Preparing Any Character for WoE

  • Bring sufficient healing items and SP items. Do not expect your priests to heal you!
  • Stock up until you have 89% Weight. You won't be gaining any items so don't worry.
    • Don't bring useless items such as Fly Wings.
  • Double check your gears to make sure you are equipping the right items.
  • Make sure you brought all the switchable gears you may need for WoE.
  • Don't customize your battle mode hot-keys at the last minute. Have a day's practice until you find a layout that you're comfortable with.
    • You should be using all 4 rows.
  • Please use a character that has some VIT for WoE (The lowest should be about 40\~60 base VIT).

Roles and Tips of Each Class

Wizard

Wizard.png

  • Do not go into the Emperium room until its heavily attacked by your tanks.
  • Do not lead the way first.
  • You are going to use mostly Quagmire and Storm Gust.
  • Be careful with Quagmire because it affects your team as well!
  • If there is water, use Water Ball for important targets such as Sages.
  • You want Bragi or high DEX to go inside and immediately cast SG and Quagmire the pre-cast area if their Land Protector is down.

Here is an example of where to cast:

Where to Cast SG.png

Sage

Sage.png

  • You are the most important class in the game (If you are VIT/DEX support).
  • Wait until the tanks come in and distract the Emperium room.
  • When you go inside, cast Land Protector as soon as possible. You will need very high DEX and a good distraction to pull it off.
  • Aim for full DEX gears.
  • Once you put down LP, you can slowly move as a team by laying down a lot of LP.
  • Note that another Sage's Land Protector can cancel yours. So cast it constantly.
  • Remember to have some spots for Safety Wall.
  • Safety Wall yourself and the Emperium when defending.
  • Stone Curse and Dispel tanks and Priests so your Monks can kill them better.
  • Have Sight ready for hidden enemies.
  • Use Heaven's Drive as a long range Sight to keep you away from melee range.

Knight

Knight

  • You are a distraction so your team can follow up.
  • Be prepared to tank Asuras.
  • If you have decent gears, kill some Wizards, Bards, Dancers, and Monks.
  • Use a status weapon and use Spear Boomerang or Magnum Break.
  • Survive as long as possible in the Emperium room.
  • Remember to bring a lot of potions.
  • Stay away from Sages if you can.

Crusader

Crusader

  • Remember to bring a lot of potions.
  • If you have the skill, use Devotion on your guild mates (Wizards and Bards).
  • Be a distraction or killer.
  • Grand Cross does not work in Land Protector.
  • Use Bash to stun Wizards to give your team some leeway to enter.
  • Stay away from Sages. They will remove all your shield buffs.
  • Keep Auto Guard up for a chance to survive Asura.

Assassin

Assassin

  • If you are a breaker, wait for the communication by your team to know when to sneak by.
  • Else, use a Jur[3] status weapon with a cursed/stun arrow equipped and Grimtooth people.
  • Venom Dust is nice.
  • Do not use Sonic Blow too often. It is currently not viable until transcended classes arrive.
  • Do not use Enchant Poison, some people have Argiope armors for this reason.
  • Use walls when Cloaking because they give you moment speed boosts.

Rogue

Rogue

  • If you are DEX, use Strip on threatening enemies or break emperium with sidewinder carded bow.
  • Switch to a status bow at appropriate times.
  • If you are STR, help break or use Back Stab on Wizards.
  • Be annoying as possible without dying.
  • You are the only class with the most status-inducing skills (Throw Stone, Sightless Mind, Sand Attack, Envenom, Divest).

Blacksmith

Alchemist

Alchemist

Priest

Priest

  • Protect the breakers and casters (Especially your recaller) with KE.
  • Don't bother supporting your tanks. They should be using White Potions.
  • Do not use Heal often (even for yourself). The delay is too great and you should be using potions as well.
  • Lex spam if you have Bragi on you.
  • Sanctuary the Emperium to heal it when defending.
  • Buff guardians and keep them alive.
  • A good Priest is the last one to die in combat.

Monk

Monk

  • Kill tanks and other important characters like Sages.
  • Be careful of Safety Wall, Hiding, and the obvious deaths.
  • Use Snap to get away from traps and enemies. You can also use this to distract people.
  • If your DEX is low, do not use Throw Spirit Sphere. Instead, try Occult Impaction.

Hunter

Hunter

  • If you are AGI/DEX, you can help break and kill.
  • Use a status weapon and auto-attacking people (breaking casts).
  • If you are DEX/VIT/INT, place a lot of traps if defending.
  • Blitz Beat bypasses defense so use it a lot on crowded areas if you are DEX/VIT/INT. With Bragi, it should be quite annoying.

Bard

Bard

  • Stay near your Wizards.
  • Besides Bragi, you want to use Frost Joker a lot to see who doesn't have Unfrozen armor.
  • An alternative to Amp is to switch into a Knife and swap back to cancel a song.
  • Ensemble Loki's Veil if you can.
  • Bring a lot of SP items.

Dancer

Dancer

  • Dazzler and mash that button.
  • Use Please Don't Forget Me if you have the proper gears and build to be in melee range.
  • Use Service for You for your guild, especially the Monks.
  • An alternative to Amp is to switch into a Knife and swap back to cancel a song.
  • Ensemble Loki's Veil if you can.
  • Bring a lot of SP items.

Strategy for Offense

I'll be using our defense as an example and illustrate how to be able to pierce through it. Hopefully your guild reaches the pre-emp room. You are all buffed up and killed off the guardians. Defeating a defenders can be tricky, but the general outline is:

  1. Send your Knights, tanks, distracters right in and disrupt pre-casters. Get rid of much of the traps
  2. Sage goes in while they are distracted and cast LP.
  3. Rest of the team follow up and use long-range to weaken them.
  4. Dancers should use Dazzler to stop pre-casters
  5. Killers should focus on Wizards and Sages.
  6. Breakers should sneak by.
  7. Protect breakers.

Strategy for Defense

  • You want to have Pre-casters standing in Bragi and Land Protector for safety.
  • Sages will Stone Curse and Dispel.
  • Tanks should be in the front lines, attacking, and using status weapons.
  • Make sure you have a trapper.
  • Have some characters to roam to find hidden enemies.

Here is an example of a good defense:

Noteworthy General Non-class Specific Tips

  • Read the main article of War of Emperium for a better understanding of the Guild vs. Guild (GvG) environment and general information.
  • Practice some WoE strategies in an actual castle when WoE is off. Use @duel to mimic the game play.
    • Note: Thought it may feel like WoE, all the GvG mechanics are not in effect like reduction to skills.
  • Have good coordination and communication. Use voice communication programs.
  • Character invincibility lasts up to 10 seconds whenever entering a portal, until the character attempts to move or use a skill. Use this for your advantage.
  • Know everything about your class's skills. View the wiki articles of your skills to see what works and what doesn't (i.e. Land Protector).
  • Remove Trap works on other people’s traps in WoE and PvP Environment.
  • Bring switchable gears such as Sight Clip.
