Applications

Safety Wall can be used to easily tank low ASPD monsters in PvM environments. High ASPD monsters can also be dealt with if the user is capable of casting Safety Wall fast enough once it is consumed, or by simply casting a new Safety Wall in a neighboring cell and moving when the previous SW is about to expire. It is less effective for tanking multiple monsters, as it will quickly consume the Safety Wall. This is highly effective for tanking MVPs, as long as its mob can be tanked by a separate character.

In PvP, Safety Wall is useful for tanking offensive melee skills such as Asura Strike, Martyr's Reckoning or Enchant Deadly Poison'd Sonic Blow. For this to be effective, the user requires sufficient DEX to cast Safety Wall quickly before the attack occurs. Land Protector and Ganbantein can remove Safety Walls.

Notes

  • Any amount of damage incoming from a single melee attack or skill will be completely blocked by Safety Wall, regardless of strength.
  • Safety Wall only blocks incoming damage. It doesn't protect against status effects and knockback, unless they were side effects of a blocked attack.
  • Against melee monsters, Safety Wall will block all melee attacks, melee skills, and some long-ranged defined skills if they were used in melee range (an exception to this is Spiral Pierce - even if the monster is beside the player, Safety Wall no longer blocks it as of summer 2008).
